Good quality build. Does the job very well and give it 5 stars. The large wheels make travel over bark, gravel, and dirt easy. We have a small step that it also has to roll over and does it fine, albeit heavy when full. There are a couple of things to know before buying that may affect your decision.1. Due to the size it sits high. Depending on your clearance under your trailer it may cause an issue. For example for my purposes using this on a 2 acre parcel, I had to dig out a little so this would sit a couple inches lower. I do not consider it a fault of the product so no stars removed. But an important consideration for your application.2. There is a metal tow handle. While moving by hand I use that on the front so that its extended. It is not a permanent attachment but fits into place and can move around. Using by hand without an extension was more difficult. A strap or other means to extend the front makes movement easier....think of pulling a roll on luggage onto a plane. The longer the handle the less likely your legs will hit it.Hope these two things help in your decision making. Please mark helpful if you found it useful. Thanks
I mean, if you want to move poop from your camper to the dump site in style, this is it. I could have towed it behind my truck, but I wanted to walk it to the dump site myself. The stylish look, and ease makes it look good. Wheels are big, and the mouth on the tank is big; you know for the wife's turds and bundled up toilet paper.Great buy, and would buy again.
Sturdy and tough. Easy to maneuver. I dislike that the intake port is about 14" above level ground. This makes it difficult to effectively drain grey tank. I would recommend that you measure your tank output and if you slightly more than 14" from ground level you are golden. I found most of the rv's and travel trailers are 10" or less above level ground. If this is the case, you would have to use a longer length of hose then fill the hose, close your rv tank valve and then lift the length of hose each time to evacuate the waste into the portable tank. No bueno but works in a pinch.

Alright here we go:I ordered the Thetford smart tote 2 (35 gallon) portable rv waste disposal tank believing that this would be easier than running a couple hoses at our camp.GREAT IDEA RIGHT/ WRONG!I have to say right up front that I ordered this a full year before actually using it cuz we are RV'ers so naturally we don't use it all the time. Finally, this summer we had the need for using it so I brought it out and tried it for the FIRST time.1] Upon opening the hose compartment and for the FIRST time extending the hose to connect it to our RV's dump pipe the hose actually tore apart from dry rot!Can you believe it: DRY ROT!There was no way I could connect the hose from the Thetford Smart tote to our RVFortunately I always carry extra hoses so I figured that I could easily repair the rotten hose: WRONG!The connection might fit - but the hose is actually smaller than the average hose so there was no way I could disconnect the hose from the tank to install a new one using a standard sewer hose cuz it won't fit.The Thetford hose was clamped on and was a real pain in the butt to remove because of there is a metal bar that obstructs removing it so it literally took me a 1/2 hour to get the thing off - Only to find that my hose would not fit the connector piece and seeing as how I don't travel with glue and other accessories I couldn't have connected it to the thetford connector piece anyway.Solution: I destroyed one of my sewer hoses and clamped it onto the dump outlet area.2] Like I said: We bought the 35 gallon tank. After filling the tank with our black water waste I tried to move this thing: HOLY COW!Do you have any idea how much a tank full of waste water, feces, toilet paper, etc weighs?A LOT!Just try dragging this 35 gallon heavy tank across stones. The video shows a guy doing it but they don't show him struggling like you will have to in order to tote this thing across really uneven terrain.3] After dragging this thing to the dump area at our camp we began to empty it.Again - not an easy task!We had to actually lift the stupid thing up to empty it completely because the dump intake was as high as the dump outlet on the smart tote so it wouldn't empty completely without being raised up.All in all I would NOT recommend to anyone that they by this incredibly bad-engineered piece of garbage.
Dumping into this things was ok no problems in that department. It was a transporting to the actual dump that was terrible. The back wheel came off during transport and when the back hit the ground hole were placed at the bottom, mess every where. Never had a spill while dumping ever since ive had my travel trailer until i bought this thing. It wasnt even out the box for 45 mins. Ultimate failure. I will be returning this for a refund.
VERY dissatisfied keep looking. The wheels on the tank are too small and too narrow to work on anything but paved surface.. Does not roll or maneuver in gravel, grass or sandy surfaces when the tank is full. The sewer hose that connects to the RV does not have a locking detente in the connector so ANY vibration causes the hose to release and spill raw sewage everywhere so u have to sit there and hold it on with your hands.. When draining the tank the supplied elbow connector is smooth and has noway to clamp it to the dump station so you can not upend the unit to drain and clean because the hose wont stay in the dump line, The flex line is held on to the solid fitting with a hose clamp but the fitting is smooth so no matter how tight u clamp the clamp to the flex line it will pull off easily, again dumping your waste tank on your feet.. I probably will not return it but will buy better wheels, and replace the sewer connectors with better connectors

I would have given this a 4 or 5 star review. But the first time we used it, the hose clamp was inadequacy tightened, and once we tilted the unit to dump it into the station, the hose came off and I don't have to tell you what it was that went everywhere; including our shoes and several other things. I would rather it would have come unassembeled. That would have made things a whole lot nicer. Other than that, it is well designed.
I regret this purchase. The hose doesn’t fit a typical elbow, so unless you can hold the end of the hose into the dump drain while lifting the other end - which is incredibly difficult if this is full, you’ll need the elbow that goes with this and you have to buy it separately. Plus, the top of the hose just fell apart while my husband was draining the black tank into this, spilling sewage everywhere. The two wheel design is awful because this thing is really hard to lift when full. We used it once and left it broken and covered in sewage in the dumpster, because I wasn’t about to try to pack it back up and return it in that condition. Luckily our friend on the next site had a 4 wheel tank (different brand - it’s blue) that we could borrow and it worked great.
    1. The out put hose connection does not lock tight and will come loose and spill contents not pretty2. The product comes with loose clamps that are to be tightened before use Problem is the piece that is to be clamped is a very soft /pliable plastic and crushes when tightened causing leaks3. When full it's quite heavy and hand walking it to the dump point is tough suggest a a 4 wheel unit but be careful if this unit is an example of the quality of tanks I'd think twice as a mishap is quite ugly4. U need to buy a $12 fitting no to allow proper threaded connection from the sewer to the tank

This cart broke the first time we used it. The top door broke off. This door is an necessary and integral component of the transport process. Also, the connection between the RV hose and the cart is not designed properly to handle gravity pressure from fluids. As a result the connection point disconnected under pressure spilling the contents on to the ground. The connection point needs a design with a detent or locking mechanism to prevent an uncontained spill. After writing a 7 page letter to Thetford and with images, several emails and talking to customer service twice (they just want to argue instead of problem solve) the cart issues have not been solved. I was promised replacement parts that to date I've not received. I am a dissatisfied customer and am exploring other options.
Bought this in 2018. Used for the first time yesterday. Per instructions opened vent hooked hose to black tank fitting ans openwd the black tank valve. Fitting immediately came off spilling black water all over me and the campground. Closed black tank valve and tried to fix the fitting back on the hose, to no avail. Had to hold the fitting on the hose to finish the dumping process. Finally got it hooked up to the truck and on my way to the dump station, at the recommended 5 mph, one of the front wheels came off. Finally got it to the dump site and emptied the black water contents, again having to hold the fitting on the hose. This was probably never tested under real world conditions by the people who designed the thing. If black water had gotten all over them, like it did me, there would have been some design changes.Once I get back home I will make some design changes myself, to maybe salvage some of the $200 + I gave for this thing.Company needs to contact me for some design idea changes that I think should help.I'll update with my ideas if they work for me.July 7, 2020My modification's worked. Here is what I did to make this unit work like it should.Where the fitting connects to the hose (the one you connect to the unit you are dumping from) I inserted a hard piece of black plastic pipe, I found the correct size at the hardware store the sells central vacuum fittings, inside the hose so when tightening the hose clamp it doesn't collapse the flimsy hose that is provided. Next I used a razor knife to cut the top door off and placed a piano hinge on it to secure it back to the unit. This will keep the top door from breaking off like I saw in some of the reviews. Lastly I drilled a 1/4 inch hole through the handle, in the fully closed position, and dropped in a 1/4"-20 ×2" bolt (without the nut and washer) to keep the handle from coming apart like I saw in some of the reviews. Didn't do anything but reattach the wheel. Will just have to see how that works.Have been on 2 camping trips since my modification's and the unit has preformed like it was designed to.My modification's took about 30 minutes. Hope this helps.
USELESS. The fill hole (hose connection) is located on the bottom of this unit, not the top. My Gosh. Unless you live in outer space, you cannot fill anything from the bottom. Look at the pictures. I purchased it, just will not work and cannot even give it away. IT CANNOT BE FILLED UNLESS YOU TIP IT ON ITS SIDE, OR FIND SOME OTHER METHOD.Pros: Appears to be well made, does have convenient storage, fill hose included, 4 wheels and good handle makes it easy to move manually or just hook to any trailer hitch. Very nice appearance, wheels have rubber rims, not the noisy plastic rims.Cons: It will never in a million years fill (more than maybe an inch at the bottom) since the hose connects to the BOTTOM of this tank. Maybe turn upside down? On it side? Ridiculous, nightmare design. Also, unit is too high to fit under many campers. Poor design, messy, won't work.I bought another unit with the hose connected to the TOP. This works. Hose on bottom, work won't in my world. Conclusion: This item was meant to catch the fisherman, not the fish.

It is well made, easy to pull when full and a great size for my little motorhome. I am 70 and i can pull and dump it when 3/4 full
My gray tank is 28 gallons and is a constant concern while dry camping. This holding tank addresses necessity to be caution with the gray tank levels. Intake is wide enough to dump gray water into it without a need to use a hose. Wheels and handle are sturdy enough to be hitched to a truck and carried to a dump station. There're similar tanks that are bigger but I like this one because even being completely full it's easy enough for me to move it.

We just bought this. For the most part it had everything we wanted. Used it one time and the spout broke off and fell into the sewer tank at the campground. We found a cap to cover the hole. We still have another week to go at the campground and now have to figure out how we are going to dump our waste. There is a design flaw on the spout that needs to be addressed. We should of just threw our money in the sewer. So disappointed 😞

I do not like it because it is not the one I ordered! It does not match the item description. This is a completely different unit. The item shipped was a bare bones model. Deception or human error?" Bayonet cap prevents spills; just pull out, connect to fill or emptyCradle pivots, hose extends for quick, clean hookupSelf storing sewer hose stays connected at bottom of tank"None of this is true!
Make no mistake--this 12-gallon tank is the runt of the SmartTote2 litter in more ways than one. Not only is it the smallest of the product series, but it lacks all the useful features of its larger siblings: There's no built-in hose and no built-in pop-up vent valve/overfill indicator. (It also comes with an instruction booklet that applies to the larger models, but NOT to this tank.)The omission of an overfill indicator is especially annoying, because extreme care is required to avoid overfilling this small tank. There's no way to know how full it's getting, unless you stop every few seconds and stick a chopstick or small dowel into the vent opening as a dipstick. If you get it wrong, sewage is going to spew out of that vent! Because I chose to play it safe and not fill the tank all the way rather than make a stinking mess, it took me twice as many trips to the dump station. The only reason I bought this model is that my Airstream trailer has fairly low dump valves, and I needed to have a tank whose inlet was lower than the dump valves. At ten inches, this one is--barely. Since unlike all the other SmartTote2 tanks, this model lacks a built-in hose, I had to make my own by cutting down a 5’ sewer hose and attaching a female fitting to the formerly male end. No, you can’t use a regular sewer hose—you need one with TWO FEMALE ENDS! Likewise, to flush this tank via its vent opening, you also need a garden hose with two female ends. I had to make that as well.If due to clearance issues, you absolutely must have the lowest-profile tank possible, this one will work. But if you have a choice, get one of the larger models. Their features that will make life much easier.
I wish we would have read the reviews and known that it does NOT come with the sewer hose like the description says. It is a misleading ad since it says clearly in the description that it has a self storing hose. I called about it to the company that I bought it from and they were very nice and helped me by sending me a hose that would fit it. The ad needs to be changed so that others do not get tricked into thinking it is all there.

I used this tote SIX times before one of the tires FELL APART so I contacted Barkermfg about the issue and made it clear that the item was still under warranty. They sent two new tires and then CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD $30.68. I provided PROOF of purchase and the charges were reversed, that was back on April 10, 2019. TODAY Barkermdg CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD ONCE AGAIN for items THEIR CEO told me would be FREE OF CHARGE.... BEWARE, this COMPANY NO LONGER HONORS THEIR WARRANTY, this COMPANY WILL SAY they will replace DEFECTIVE PARTS free of charge and then CHARGE YOU FOR THEM
This is a great product.I would not count on the wheels to go very far.I keep mine on another small trailer with road worthy wheels. The first time I used it I filled it right to the very top of the tank.I had to drive about 6 miles to the dump station. When I got there the tank had produced tremendous pressure,I was surprised the tank had not burst. When I cracked the lid it blew crap in the air 10 to 12 feet,it cover me and my wife and about a half dozen other people who were standing around the dump station.Needless to say we were not to popular that day.I hope you can learn from my mistake, leave several inches of space on the top of the tank,if you build up methane it can be let off safely by cracking the small lid.Good luck.
Not happy with this product at all. It's one of the more expensive blue boys out there. I have only had it for 2 months. It works like advertised, however, it sat on the ground under my 5th wheel and was exposed to the afternoon sun. It expanded, and then the axel popped off, and cannot be reinserted. The tank is very rounded now and won't go back to its original shape. The tank is now useless as I can't roll it on its wheels to the dump station. The instructions did not state anywhere that the valve needs to be open to prevent expansion in the hot sun.

The tank failed where the front wheels connect to the tank. I only noticed this defect when I was towing the heavily laden tank slowly through a campground. At first I was surprised to see all the fellow campers glaring at me as I crept by, but I just greeted them with a friendly wave and continued on my way. I glanced in my mirror and immediately realized why the fellow campers were glaring. There was a ever widening swath of blue liquid horror following my defective poo tote, so I did what any reasonable semi-intoxicated man would do... I accelerated! As I gained speed I thought I was winning the battle against the feces as the dump station was in sight and the stream was narrowing but I over looked one important rule of physics, in this situation it was Newton’s third law. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction and in this case the action was me frantically trying to out run a trail of poo and the eventual reaction was the front wheels ripping off of my toat tank just yards from the dump station forming a massive puddle of my family’s excrement that fully surrounded my truck.Great product Barker...

Well made unit with rubber inflatable tries unlike the cheap looking tires shown in the pic. Why doesn't Barker put an accurate pic up? The sewer hose that comes with it is very cheap. The instructions that come with it admit that assembling the sewer hose is hard to do, so why include something hard to put together and cheap? Barker should just put the short Campco made for these totes in the box. I would have given the tote 5 stars if it came with a quality sewer hose that I don't have to try hard to put together. They even suggest using a hair dryer to enlarge the hose in order to get the sewer fittings on to avoid breaking a finger nail. Stupid! Does anybody at Barker care to improve their ad and product? I am buying a Campco hose that should have come with this tote for $19.28. Barker should send me a check for at least $19.28 for my consultant fee for this review. Really Barker, you can probably buy the quality hoses cheap wholesale and pass the extra cost in to your price and please your customers with all quality stuff instead of including cheap junk. How much did the included sewer hose and fittings cost? $5.00? The bobber gauge is another weak link in this quality product. Mine failed completely when tested with water in the tank. Someone needs to engineer a proper gauge for these tanks.Update: 9/12/16: I have been using this unit for over 3 months in the mountains of West. I took it from about sea level in California to around 7000 feet in Wyoming. The air pressure change caused the unit to expand and the axle holding the rear wheels on the tank popped off the tank. No warning of this in the instructions. The force fit caps holding the wheels to the axle were very difficult to remove in order to replace the axle into the tank. I will travel with the small cap removed to prevent this in the future. The tank has worked well so far.

Rv Portable Waste Tank – The Buyer’s Guide & FAQ:

1. Does it have the features you require?

Before you buy Rv Portable Waste Tank, be sure again that it has all of the features listed in your requirements list! If some options are missing, it’s much better to search for an alternative.

We always suggest that our editors make a list of important attributes before adding a product to the list and rank it based on those features, the quality of the product and the brand guarantee!

At the same time if you find a Rv Portable Waste Tank that has all you need, maybe in that case you should not mind paying a little more. That’s why it’s important to make a list that includes the features you’re searching for, determine your budget and specifications (if any).

2. Read product reviews

A simple way to obtain the best product is to look at reviews of the product. Buying guides and reviews can help you learn a lot about the product you are planning to buy. If you would like important and relevant information about a Rv Portable Waste Tank, read user reviews based on actual experiences with a specific product. They’ll help you decide on your purchase.

3. Budget and Price Match

Chances are you won’t be able to purchase the best Rv Portable Waste Tank with a low budget. That is why it’s important to write down all the important features, specifications, and budget. Once you’ve done that, start looking for products that either equal or near your budget.

Try to stick to your budget, but bear in mind that during your search you may see a model that is slightly better and has an extra feature with a really small difference in price. If it’s worth it, you should probably raise your budget.

About Promotions and Discounts

When comparing prices on products, your goal is to buy the best product at the best price. Although some shoppers will willingly spend their cash on discounts and cheap items, others will be more cautious of those”too good to be true” discounts and offers. The perfect way to conserve your money is to compare prices and quality of items at different online stores.

4. Always read product descriptions carefully

Not reading the item description before buying is a critical mistake. The problem with many online shoppers now is that they make the majority of their buying decisions based on the product image displayed. They don’t take the time to browse the full product description. To avoid disappointment with your purchase, check all of the information about a product before adding it to your cart. Do not be fooled by photoshop-edited images that could distort the actual appearance of the product.

5. Warranty and Brand

Most of the experts we consulted told us to always buy Rv Portable Waste Tank, from a reputable brand. They also asked us to write in our buyer’s guide that purchasing Rv Portable Waste Tank from unknown brands or from untrustworthy companies is almost never worth the savings.

In the end, Rv Portable Waste Tank from an unknown brand can be cheap but extremely low quality and difficult to fix.

Another advantage of buying Rv Portable Waste Tank from a reputable brand is the guarantee. Most Rv Portable Waste Tank from respectable brands come with a great warranty. Cheap products have a warranty also, but it can be very difficult to claim it. So buy models from respectable brands with a good warranty.
